Dwarfs are a form of German fairy. Because of
the diminutive size of most fairies and because
the term dwarf has come to mean “tiny,” many
other species of small spiritual beings have been
referred to as dwarfs. It is said that the Isle of
Rügen has black and white dwarfs.
